Privacy
This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have. Plain English, no filler. If anything here is unclear, email us and we'll answer.
Who we are
Precision Astrology is run by Ian Crocker, who is the data controller for the personal data described here. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected].
What we collect
- Account data — your email address, your name if you give one, and the authentication token that keeps you logged in.
- Birth data — the date, exact time, place, and coordinates of birth you enter to calculate a chart. This is sensitive: an exact birth time and location can identify you, so we treat it with care, store it against your account, and never publish it.
- Payment metadata — if you buy something, our payment provider (Stripe) handles the transaction and tells us that it succeeded, for which product. Your card details are entered on Stripe's systems and never reach our servers.
- The readings we generate for you — the chart interpretations, signature readings, and stories produced from your data, saved so you can return to them.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To deliver what you asked for — calculating your chart, generating and storing your readings, and providing anything you've paid for. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To send emails you've opted into — account and verification emails, and any updates or transit notifications you switch on. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who processes it
We use a small number of third parties to run the service. Each handles only what it needs to:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Brevo — sending transactional and opt-in email.
- AI providers (Anthropic, Groq, Google) — generating your readings. To do this, chart geometry derived from your birth data (planetary positions, aspects, and configurations) is sent to them. This may be processed on servers outside the UK; where it is, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your account, birth data, and readings for as long as your account is open, so the service works when you come back. If you delete your account, we delete that data. We may keep a minimal record of a transaction (not your card details) for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct anything inaccurate.
- Delete your account and its data — you can do this yourself in the app, from your account menu, and it removes your account, charts, readings, and stories.
- Export your data — email us and we'll send you a copy.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you think we've handled your data badly. We'd rather you told us first so we can put it right.
